An Unlikely Accountant

Nothing like a whipping to get you motivated

So I have been struggling to get back into working out for about 4 months now but my clothes have been fitting fine and my weight has remained stable so I haven’t really been that motivated to get back on the workout wagon.  Even the 15K that I signed up for that is just a mere 7 weeks away hasn’t really scared me back into the gym.

Then, over the weekend, I played tennis with my sister.

1. I lost 7-5.  Not a complete whipping (since I was down 4-1 at one point) but I like to win.

2. By the end of the set I was totally winded…and we only played for an hour!!

We then proceeded to take a family trip (minus Mama) to the Monon Center where Damla and I walked 4 miles on the Monon Trail and I was SO SORE.

4 months ago I was running half marathons and now look at me!!

Sunday afternoon I headed back home and motivated by my tennis defeat and an iPod full of podcasts, I headed outside to run.  I originally planned on doing 3 but since the podcast was 45 minutes, I decided to do 4.  It took me somewhere between 42-43 minutes which is about a 10:45 pace.  Considering back in may I was coming in under 9 minute miles, this isn’t great for me.  BUT I did manage to run jog the entire time so that was a victory.

I am taking today off because my body hates me (I actually used my seat heat in my car as a heating pad this morning because I was so sore) but I plan to be back on the Monon on Tuesday.  It’s time to get back in shape!!
